Main:

Say:

  • Sharing information that we know or have learned can be exciting.  Learning something new is fun and it is just as much fun to share with someone.
  • Many times, we speak to someone to tell them what we have learned.  That is a great way to share because the person can ask questions to find out more information.
  • Writing is also a good way to share what you have learned.  When you are writing about information that you have learned, it is important to include as much information as you can.
  • Your reader will not be able to ask you questions like someone you were talking to would.  So, you need to include details and make sure that you are sharing everything that you know.
  • We have been talking about migration.  What have you learned?  (Allow the students to answer.)
  • You are now going to be writing about what you learned about migration.  You just told me all of the information that you learned!
  • You should start by explaining what migration is.  You can then write about what you learned about some of the animals that migrate, why they migrate and what you learned about bird migration.
  • Does anyone have any questions?

Feedback:

Say:

  • Who would like to share what you wrote?  (Allow the students to share.)
