The Pioneer Virtual Zoo
Remember to bring your virtual sunscreen and a cyber-snack!
Grades: 6-8
The Pioneer Virtual Zoo is a site that was developed by middle school students at Pioneer Middle School in Hanford, California. Built as a resource to help the students understand how animals are classified, it is useful to students around the country not only as a classification resource but also as a model for how school research can benefit the larger community.

Cyber Safety
An educators and video book talks on reading for grades 3-8.
Grades: Pre-K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12
Cyber Safety is a site developed by the California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP) Region IV that provides information and resources for teaching young people the safe and responsible use of the Internet and other technologies including mobile phones, digital cameras, and Webcams.

Book Wink
An educators and video book talks on reading for grades 3-8.

ABCya provides web-based educational games and activities that have been created by teachers for primary and early elementary grade students.

Whyville
Why not? An online community with educational value, for tweens.
Grades: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12
Whyville is a virtual world which engages young people in constructive educational activities while promoting socially responsible behavior. Tweens and teens can join (membership is free) to chat, play games, and learn about science and business in a very engaging way.

This site offers a wealth of Physlets that can be used by science teachers to illustrate processes and concepts in physics. Physlets are small Java-based applets developed at Davidson University by Wolfgang Christian and are designed to be used in science education.

Astronomy Online

Astronomy Online was created by Ricky Murphy while working on a masters degree in astronomy. It provides basic as well as more complex information about the world of astronomy and includes photographs, essays, and more.

Cosmic Journey: A History of Scientific Cosmology
The story of humanitys star-gazing.

Cosmic Journey was developed by the Center for History of Physics and the American Institute of Physics. It tells the story of scientific cosmology from the ancient Greeks to the Hubble Space Telescope, including individuals, ideas, and tools that helped us learn about the universe in which we live.
