Main:
Say:
- Hockey is a sport that is played by people on two teams. Both teams are trying to score points by getting a hockey puck into a net. The teams do this while skating on ice.
- Raise your hand if you have ever played or seen hockey.
- Hockey moves really quickly because the players are skating. They pass the puck to their teammates on the ice using a long stick.
- Because the puck moves really quickly on the ice, the players have to skate really quickly.
- Hockey players have to wear a lot of pads, gloves and special skates. The pads and gloves help to keep them safe and protected in case they fall.
- Ice skates are sharp and could cut them if they were not wearing all of the protective gear.
- Ice hockey skates are different than skates that you probably wear if you go ice skating at a rink or on a pond. Ice hockey skates are more like boots with a blade on them. They are light weight and both ends of the blade are curved so that they can go really fast.
- Ice hockey players are strong and fast.
- Today, you are going to be listening to a book called Dino-Hockey. It is a book about dinosaurs that play hockey.
- Some of you may know the dinosaur sports books. There are many books in which dinosaurs play sports such as football, soccer, baseball and many more.
- After we listen to the book, I am going to give you a worksheet that has questions about Dino-Hockey.
- After you have finished doing the worksheet, we will talk about your answers.
- Does anyone have any questions?

Say:
- Who would like to share your answers? (Allow the students to share.)
