Video Roundups: Reindeer

During the holiday season, children all around the world will be awaiting for the arrival of Santa Claus and his right-hand man Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. 

What some students do not realize, however, is that reindeer are not just cartoon characters, they are real. Education World has curated a list of video roundups for teachers to use to teach students about reindeer. In addition to a description to each video, Education World has included a suggested grade-level and "cool factor", or level of interest. 

 

Siberia Reindeer

Description: In this video, students can learn about reindeer in Siberia. 

Cool Factor: Low: This is a little slow going, but interesting in learning about where reindeer lives, and the people who herd them. Good for the middle age group of students. 

 

Holiday and Reindeer

Description: Students can learn about reindeer and their connection to the holidays. 

Cool Factor: Moderate: The video is short and gets straight to the point with facts and information about reindeer and what they do to help those around them, including humans. 

 

Reindeer 101 for Children

Description: In the video, Martha Stewart teaches students about reindeer by visiting the Wilson's Tree Farm in Putney, Vermont.

Cool Factor: High: This video is interesting, and students can be right in the middle of a tree farm while learning about reindeer.

Cool Factor: Low: Although the video may be boring, but is short and offers facts about reindeer.
