Main:
Say:
It is fun to imagine what kind of constellation we could put into the sky.
Today, you are going to be writing a myth about the constellation that you would like to make.
It is important to remember that a myth is a story that is told to explain why something is the way that it is. Remember, we just read about Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. That myth is from Greek mythology. Greek mythology is a group of stories that were told by ancient Greek people to explain the things around them.
When you think about the constellation that you would put in the sky, you also need to think about the story that would go with it.
For example, if you put a dog in the sky, why would a dog constellation be in the sky? Did it run away from its owner and get lost and end up in the sky? Did it die helping someone and got rewarded by being made into a constellation? There could be so many different reasons.
When you are writing your myth, make sure that you include details and make sure that the story has a good beginning, middle and end.
Remember that your constellation can be anything that you want it to be, but the story about it needs to explain why something is the way that it is.
Does anyone have any questions?
Feedback:
Say:
Who would like to share what you wrote? (Allow the students to share.)
