Six Lessons for National Weatherperson's Day
February 5 is National Weatherperson's Day, a day to celebrate the men and women who work as meteorologists to predict our weather on a daily basis. Teachers can share this national holiday with their students by bringing different weather-geared lesson plans into the classroom.
Education World has gathered the following resources for you to use on National Weatherperson's Day or within your science curriculum.
- Weather Scope: Provided by CIESE.org, teachers have access to an entire unit looking at what it takes to be a meteorologist. Students can design weather instruments, compare weather measurements, analyze data, and more.
- Young Meteorologist Program: Provided by Educator Exchange, teachers can get science lessons plans and hands-on activities to teach about meteorology in the classroom. On this site there are resources, lesson plans, classroom activities, professional development opportunities and links for teachers.
