Math Games With Jane and Joanne |
Players divide cards evenly among themselves.
Each player turns over three cards and adds them together. The highest sum gets all of the cards.
In the event of a tie for the highest sum, war is declared. The players who have set down the cards that tie must set down three more cards and add together the numbers on those cards. The highest sum wins all of the cards that are in play.
Play continues until one player has collected all of the cards.
Grades 3 and up: in the event of a tie, play as described above but add together the two sums
Example:Player 1 puts down cards numbered 3, 2, and 3 (total of 8). Player 2 puts down cards numbered 6, 2, and 1 (total of 9). Player 3 puts down cards numbered 4, 2, and 3 (total of 9). War is declared between Player 2 and Player 3. Player 2 puts down cards numbered 3, 4, and 1 (total of 8). Player 3 puts down cards numbered 6, 1, and 4 (total of 11). Player 3 collects all the cards put down in this round.
