Five Books to Celebrate Winnie-the-Pooh Day

January 18 is A.A. Milne's birthday, the creator of Winnie the Pooh. In order to commemorate him, the day has been coined "Winnie-the-Pooh Day", an entire day dedicated to celebrating our favorite bear.

Many have collected the movies, television shows, stuffed animals, and short stories throughout their time, who among us has read the original chapter books?

Education World has gathered a list of five original Winnie-the-Pooh chapter books by A.A. Milne to celebrate Winnie-the-Pooh Day:

  1. Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne: In this chapter book, according to Barnes and Noble, students can read about "the adventures of Christopher Robin and his friends, in which Pooh Bear uses a balloon to get honey, Piglet meets a Heffalump, and Eeyore has a birthday."
  2. The House at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne: In this chapter book, Barnes and Noble says: "Pooh and Christopher Robin are the best of friends.Their adventures are always sure to be interesting -- especially if they're joined by Piglet, Eeyore, Owl, and the newest resident of the Hundred Acre Wood, Tigger!"
  3. Now We Are Six by A.A. Milne: In Now We Are Six, Barnes and Noble says: "Here are the poems of childhood, of summer days at the beach and rainy days at the window, fishing trips and fanciful ones. Here are Christopher Robin's wheezles and sneezles, James Morrison's wayward mother, and so much more. Bright in color and true in spirit, these books are perfect for giving--to Pooh fans of all ages."
  4. When We Were Very Young by A.A. Milne: In this book students will find "poems that celebrate the spirit and innocence of childhood," said Barnes and Noble. "A. A. Milne brilliantly weaves together the worlds of reality and enchanting make believe. The result is a work that is among the best loved in children's literature."
  5. Return to the Hundred Acre Wood by A.A. Milne: Barnes and Noble says: "It was eighty years ago, on the publication of The House at Pooh Corner, when Christopher Robin said good-bye to Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. Now they are all back in new adventures, for the first time approved by the Trustees of the Pooh Properties. This is a companion volume that truly captures the style of A. A. Milne-a worthy sequel to The House at Pooh Corner and Winnie-the-Pooh."
