Crisscrossing the U.S.A.: Learn About Famous Places (#1)
Brief Description Objectives Students use the National Parks Service's online search engine to answer questions about ten famous places in the United States. (Note: Students will find answers to all questions on the first page of the text on that page.) Keywords landmark, monument, national park Materials Needed computers with Internet access or printed material from the Web sites that are part of this activity (This activity might also be done using library resources, but Internet access is preferable.)Lesson Plan Print out the student work sheet for students to use in completing this activity. Assessment Students will correctly answer at least eight of the ten questions. ANSWER KEY: 1. 60,000 years ago; 2. over 2,209 died; 3. Sonoran Desert; 4. Canada; 5. alligators and crocodiles; 6. 1762; 7. nine students; 8. an American farmer shot and killed a pig; 9. 200,000 to 300,000 men, women, and children; 10. Santa Fe Trail.
