Materials Needed
a computer with Internet access and speakers, various scrap materials (depending on the types of instruments chosen), printouts of instrument directions from Make Your Own Instruments
Lesson Plan
Discuss with students the origins of blues music, and play some of the selections from The Mississippi River: River of Song. Then provide students with the materials and directions necessary to make a selection of instruments. After students have constructed a variety of instruments, invite them to compose tunes to accompany some of the Digitrad Kids Songs lyrics.
