Classroom Web Site Links Home and School Web site name: Ms. Lisa's School Pages
Web site creator: Lisa Links, Bayou L'Ourse Primary, Morgan City, Louisiana

"Many elements motivated me to create my own Web site," said Lisa Links. "Probably the most significant was that I wanted to be able to increase the home-school connection for both my students and their parents. I realized that a Web site could be an awesome tool for that purpose."

Links, a fourth-grade teacher, also uses her site to provide opportunities for continued learning at home. "Students need much motivation to continue learning concepts taught in the classroom at home," she told Education World. "I've aimed my Web site at content that is relevant to what my students experience in class. That way, their parents have the convenience of connecting with their child's academic life, which helps them in their academic role."

Ms. Lisa's School Pages contains parent news, homework assignments, and a section of Teacher Resources inspired by Links's own long list of bookmarks.

"I dearly love my Classroom Connections page," stated Links. "This page varies through the school year according to what we're learning in school. Here I create the links I will use with students during instruction. Students love to go directly to this page and to share its contents with their parents."

Links notes that her students also love the Big Laugh Page and Kool Kid Links that are filled with games, quizzes, puzzles, jokes, and other fun.

During the 2001-2002 school year, Links created a Martin Luther King Jr. curriculum page, and she hopes to design more like it in the future for her Teachers' Closet. "I intend those pages to consist of the best links to Web sites, printables, and other resources related to the topics I teach," Links said. "They will not only be for my use, but for other educators' use as well."
