What advice would you give to a new or struggling teacher?

Seek to learn from others and on your own. Remember we do this for the children and that they will only get this one childhood and that you have been blessed to be a part of it. Be a leader adn do not be scared to raise your own standards. Most of all, truly know the children in your care because for eight hours a day, five days a week, you are someone they can look up to, trust and emulate.

What’s the nicest thing a student or colleague has ever done to help you?

A comment relayed to be from a grandparent as told to him by his grandchild: "Grandpa there are some bad teachers and some good teachers out there." Grandpa: "What kind of teacher fo you have?" Child: "Oh, I have a good teacher."

My best day in the classroom was when…

the first weeks come around every year. Fall is my favorite season, so I love seeing the autumn decor with the children's names decorating doors and hallways. I love the annual theme of apples being explored and questions of, "What are we going to do today?" No other career is this exciting.

Something that always gives me a good belly laugh is...

Manipulatives, they are so versitile.

What’s your secret snack indulgence?

We eat in our classrooms so typically whatever the children eat for breakfast, but my favorites are grits, oatmeal, toast, orange juice and milk.

What TV show are you most embarrassed about loving?

The "Legally Blonde" series,
