Site Review: Scriblink

Site URL:  www.scriblink.com

Content:  Scriblink is a free digital whiteboard users can share online. There is no registration, and the board is open only to people the user chooses to invite. The whiteboard provides many tools such as shapes, colors, a size bar, a text feature and more. Users can print, save and email their whiteboards. The user also can upload photos and type on the screen. Scriblink even offers an online chat for those working in a group.

Design:  The site's design is fairly simple and requires a Java setup to access. Although users have the ability to write on the whiteboard with virtual paintbrushes and pencils, the outcome is sloppy. (Typing on the whiteboard is a little cleaner and more useful.) The site doesn't indicate whether it is compatible with SMART Boards or tablets.

Review:  For group projects or other types of online work, Scriblink could be useful. Teachers might also recommend the site to their students to use outside of class--for example, to complete assigned math problems. The online chat feature is helpful, but overall, the site seems a bit behind the times.

Bottom Line:  Scriblink offers a good tool for on-the-go use. It also offers an easy way to share information with students, colleagues and others.
