For Better or Worse:
By Stewart Pruslin

What is teaching like today? Who should do it? And who shouldn't? This Education World series features essays on teaching by teachers as they answer the question, "If you had it to do all over again, would you still become a teacher?"

Mr. Pruslin is a third grade teacher at J.T. Hood School in North Reading Massachusetts.

Would I become a teacher again? Certainly I would! Of course, I'd do some things differently. Many things have changed in the twelve years I've been a teacher -- some for the better and some not. But when you think about the job and distill it down to just "working with kids," it's still rewarding and enjoyable.
