Try this activity from Professor Joe Martin some day when youre feeling the need for some creative changes in your classroom: Have students take out a blank piece of paper, and then write this statement on the chalkboard:
"If I was teacher for a dayHave each student write down one to three ideas on his or her paper; then have students turn in their papers with their names on them. The ideas dont have to be written in narrative form; they can be written as a list of items. The exercise shouldnt take more than 10 minutes.
this is what I would do to make our class more fun and educational..."
Take the papers home with you, and see which ideas make the most sense and are the most realistic to implement. Then simply determine how you can incorporate those ideas (i.e., changes) into your daily plan. You also might announce which students came up with the best and most creative ideas and give those students some special reward.
