Each week, Education World offers a new idea to help you "make over" boring book report formats. If you're looking for a way to spice up book reports -- and truly engage students in reading -- you've come to the right place. Check out this week's makeover idea
Students use a glossary they have written to create their own word search.
Instruct each student to compile a glossary containing ten or more words specific to the tone, setting, or characters in a book he or she has read. Students should define each word and record a sentence from the book that includes the word. Then have students create a word search puzzle that includes those glossary words. Invite students to exchange their glossaries and word searches with their classmates.
