Each week, Education World offers a new idea to help you "make over" boring book report formats. If you're looking for a way to spice up book reports -- and truly engage students in reading -- you've come to the right place. Check out this week's makeover idea
Students create a Concentration-style game related to a book just read.
Distribute to each student 30 index cards. Each student then chooses 14 objects, characters, or events featured in the book he or she has just read and creates two cards with identical pictures for each of those objects, characters, or events. Each of the two remaining cards is marked Wild Card!
Arrange students into pairs or allow students to choose partners. Have each pair of students place all their cards face down and mix them up. Students then play Concentration according to the usual rules.
