Book Review: Batman Math

Title:  Batman Math Made Easy - Fifth Grade, by DK Publishing with collaborator Alison Tribley, 2007.

Description:  Illustrated with kids' favorite characters from Gotham City, this Batman-themed workbook is filled with exercises that supplement student learning. The math disciplines covered in the book include improper fractions, mixed numbers, long multiplication and division as well as rounding decimals and others.

batman mathA handy feature of Batman Math Made Easy is the progress chart that allows students to keep an accurate record of their math accomplishments with fun Batman-themed stickers.

The book features word and numerical problems and practice questions and is peppered with encouraging words and images from both the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder. A teacher/parent section contains answers as well as notes that explain common errors. Additional notes indicate the type of practice required to help students understand where and how they’ve made mistakes.

Bottom Line:  In a market flooded with workbooks, math has never been as exciting as it is with Batman.
