Title: Digital Photography, by Jeff Shaffer. Apple Publishing Group, 2013.
Description: Here's an affordable eBook that offers a basic introduction to digital photography. The title makes rich use of photographic examples, videos and slideshows, and interactive quizzes finish off each chapter.
Digital Photography is an inexpensive and comprehensive eBook that's perfect for any introductory digital photography class at the high-school level. The first line of the first chapter not only states a universal truth about cameras, but also is right on the
money when it comes to many photography textbooks: "All cameras, whether digital or film-based, operate with the same basic principles and components." Considering the price tag of $2.99, the easy-to-follow language Shaffer uses, and the loads of useful interactive elements the books features, one could easily say that Digital Photography serves as a definitive introduction to the topic.
Bottom Line: This is an excellent, reasonably priced, high-school level eBook on digital photography.
About the Author: Jeff Shaffer taught at the CREC Hartford Academy of the Arts and currently teaches digital photography at Tunxis Community College in Farmington, CT.
How to Purchase: The eBook can be viewed on iPads, iBooks or as an interactive PDF. It retails for $2.99 on iTunes.
