  • Today we are going to be talking about hockey.  Hockey is a game that is played on an ice rink.  Players wear skates and use a hockey stick to push a puck around on the ice.  They try to shoot the puck into a goal on one end of the rink.
  • Raise your hand if you have ever seen an ice hockey game or even played one.
  • Hockey is a game that can also be played on a field or on pavement.  However, hockey is more often played on ice.
  • Hockey sticks are made from wood and have a flat end that looks like a foot.  That part of the stick is called the blade and is the part that is used to hit the puck.
  • You are now going to be listening to a story about hockey.
  • As you listen to the story, I want you to be thinking about how the characters interact with each other and what actions they take.
  • I am going to give you a worksheet that has questions about the story you just heard.
  • After you have finished doing the worksheet, we will talk about your answers.
  • Does anyone have any questions?
