Each of the 51 printable Mystery State work sheets presents five clues to the identity of one of the 50 U.S. states or the District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.). Students use the clues to help them identify that place.
Clue 1: This state is home to the world's largest petrified wood park.
Clue 2: About 1,500 free-roaming bison live in a park in this state.
Clue 3: Part of this state is called "the Badlands."
Clue 4: The famous Native American Sioux chief, Sitting Bull, was a native of this state.
Clue 5: Mount Rushmore, on which the faces of U.S. presidents Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Theodore Roosevelt are carved, is in this state.
