Six Holiday Recipes for Students of All Ages
The holiday season is approaching, and teachers will want to spread cheer in their classrooms.

One way to spread holiday cheer is through baking, and teachers have plenty of easy, simple recipes to use in their classrooms during the holiday season. Education World has gathered six Christmas and Hanukkah recipes for teachers to use in the classroom.
- Reindeer Sandwiches:
What you need:
- Bread
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Pretzels
- M&M
- Chocolate chips
- Heart shaped cookie cutters
What to do:
- Make a peanut butter jelly sandwich (can switch for allergenic reasons), and use a heart cookie cutter to make the head.
- Add two small pretzels by pushing them into the center of the sandwich for antlers.
- Add two chocolate chips for eyes and a red M&M for a nose.
- Grinch Kabobs:
What you need:
- Strawberries
- Grapes
- Banana slice
- Marshmallow
- Lemon juice
- Toothpicks
What to do:
- Slice the banana and and add a bit of lemon juice to the slices to coat them from turning brown.
- Cut off the top of the strawberry.
- On the toothpick, stack the green grape, banana slice, and a strawberry (put it top side down on the banana side).
- Push another toothpick down through the tip of the strawberry through the banana slice and into the grape leaving 1/4'' of the toothpick at the top.
- Add a mini marshmallow to the top.
- Marshmallow Dreidels:
What you need:
- Marshmallows
- Hershey kisses
- Thin pretzel sticks
- Blue sugar sprinkles
- White frosting
- Spreader
What to do:
- Put a thin layer of frosting all over the marshmallow.
- Roll the marshmallow in blue sugar sprinkles.
- Break the pretzel rod in half and dip the broken piece into the white frosting. Stick the frosted-dipped end into the flat side of the marshmallow to create the handle of the dreidel.
- Holding the pretzel stick, roll the marshmallow in the sprinkle to fully cover.
- Apply a small dab of white frosting to the Hershey kiss on the flat side to create the spinner.
- Christmas Present Pretzels:
What you need:
- Snyder's butter snaps
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Christmas (red and green) M&Ms.
What to do:
- Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave.
- Dunk the pretzel edge in the chocolate, remove the pretzel and lay it on a flat surface.
- Place two halves of the M&M along the top edge of the chocolate to create a bow.
- Edible Dreidel: New Spin:
What you need:
- Caramel cubes
- Chocolate kisses
- Think pretzel sticks
- Frosting
- Toothpick
- Edible-ink pen
What to do:
- Unwrap the caramel. Flatten it into a cube.
- With toothpick, poke a hole in the middle of the caramel.
- Break pretzel stick to about 3/4 inch in length.
- Poke pretzel stick midway into hole.
- Add letters.
- Dab frosting onto other end of caramel.
- Push kiss onto frosting.
- Hot Chocolate Kit:
What you need:
- Hot chocolate mix
- Marshmallows
- Chocolate chips
- Mints
- Mason Jar
- Ribbon
What to do:
- Fill the hot chocolate mix in a mason jar.
- Fill in the marshmallows
- Put in the chocolate chips
- Fill in the mints
- Add a ribbon to the jar to make it festive
