He is probably best know as the creator of patriotic works such as A Lincoln Portrait and Fanfare for the Common Man Born in Brooklyn, New York on November 14 1900, Copland traveled to europe to study. Is it surprizing that Billy the Kid and Rodeo, two of Coplands most famous ballets, are about the Wild West. He also rote the ballet Appalachian Spring for choreographer Martha Graham.
