Teachers work hard all year round to perform one of the most important jobs in the country, so it’s more than fair that they get a whole week dedicated to appreciating them.
Here are some of the best moments from this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week so far. If you have a story you’d like to share about how your Teacher Appreciation Week is going--let others know in the comment section below.
One of the more heart-warming stories this Teacher Appreciation week comes from Blue Ridge Elementary School in Baytown, Kansas.
A donation from a parent let the school’s hard-working teachers relax on the job with chair massages, says Fox4K KC.
Fox4 interviewed the school’s librarian of 26 years, Darsa Clay, who says the massages greatly helped ease the frequent back pain she’s dealt with her whole life.
It’s the little things.
Maybe it’s time to talk more about financial literacy!
Just kidding, but in a light-hearted article for US Weekly Education Secretary John B. King Jr. admitted to still paying off his student loans--putting him in a similar situation to most of America’s young professionals.
On a more serious note, he credited New York City school teachers to guiding his current success after being an orphan by age 12.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel tried to show teachers some support by posting a video showcasing his appreciation on May 3rd, but teachers weren’t impressed.
Several educators used the opportunity to further express unhappiness with how Emanuel oversees the Chicago Public School District, with one educator’s comment being short but sweet: “BS.”
The Virginia Lottery’s campaign to #ThankATeacher in partnership with the state’s PTA has put teachers in the running to win several vacations worth $5,000 in value.
The vacation packages each include three-night stays and extravagant dinners and activity packages.
Virginia is for Teachers, it seems!
President Obama took to Twitter to thank his fifth grade teacher, tweeting out a picture of him with his fifth grade class and the message:
To my 5th grade teacher Ms. Mabel Hefty and the educators who inspire our young people every single day: Thank you.

There’s nothing better than some appreciation that lasts all-year round.
