Site URL: ExxonMobil.com/LetsSolveThis
Content: Here, visitors will find information about Let’s Solve This, ExxonMobil’s initiative to improve student achievement in math and science through teacher professional development.
Design: The small site doesn’t include much in terms of navigation or design. The pleasant-looking homepage features a main scroller with 30-second clips promoting the campaign. The rest of the page falls vertically down the screen and offers links to the various arms of Let’s Solve This.
Review: This site really boils down to how much time, effort and money teachers will want to invest in improving their skill sets.
Some of the programs—such as the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy, which trains grade-school teachers in innovative, hands-on math and science instruction—are highly selective and offer scholarships. Others, like the Sally Ride Science Academy, charge a fee and admit a broader group of participants.
Let’s Solve This offers both face-to-face and online training opportunities. Each of the programs focuses on a specific area in science and math, with the goal of improving teacher performance and thereby improving U.S. students’ global standing in those disciplines.
Bottom Line: While not a classroom resource site, Let’s Solve This is one that can help you be the best teacher possible.
