SanDisk Unveils Wireless Flash Drives

Known as a leader in the Flash storage business, SanDisk is taking its first step into wireless territory with the release of two Wi-Fi-based storage devices.

The Connect Wireless Flash Drive and the Connect Wireless Media Drive join the already-impressive lineup of standard storage devices from SanDisk. CNet reports that they "use flash memory as their storage, have a built-in battery and a 802.11n Wi-Fi network, and support multiple Wi-Fi clients at one time. They can also relay the Internet access by connecting to another Wi-Fi network and share that network's Internet connection to all the devices that are connected to the Wi-Fi network of their own."

Both drives are expected to hit shelves in September. The Connect Wireless Flash Drive will run $50 and $60 for 16GB and 32GB. The Connect Wireless Media Drive costs $80 for 32GB and $100 for 64GB.

A GIFTED TEACHER'S REASONS TO BE...

With Thanksgiving happening, I thought it would be fun to list the things that a teacher of gifted could be grateful for. Here it goes:

1. YOU HAVE A TEACHING JOB
We can be grateful that despite all the cutbacks to the arts, gifted education, and other areas over the years, many schools still employ at least one teacher of the gifted to provide services. It could be worse, I guess.

2. YOU GET TO WORK WITH SOME AMAZING KIDS
As a teacher of the gifted, you get to...

See Hand-Written Gettysburg Addresses

Gettysburg AddressIt's been 150 years since President Abraham Lincoln delivered one of the most famous speeches in American history, and while the Gettysburg Address remains a prominent topic in history classrooms, students have never been able to see exactly how those influential words looked on the author's page...until now...

Obsessed-Part 2

Last week~ I wrote about gifted children have the tendency to become obsessed with a particular area and topic (http://community.educationworld.comcontent/obsessed) and warned teachers not to discourage this traitwhich can be found in highly successful people~ whove made major contributions to society-- but rather help students find healthy ways to develop it.

The remainder of this blog will be dedicated to sharing...

What is Innovation?

What is innovation? Google the term and it is~ the action or process of innovating a fairly unhelpful definition for those who subscribe to the notion that you cant define a word using a derivative of it. Synonyms include change~ alteration~ upheaval~ transformation~ or breakthrough.

People frequently imagine new technologies~ electronics~ scientific advances~ startups and other types of change when they hear the word innovation. People~ including those who care about...

Enrichment: From Excellence to Eminence

  • Moving any individual, organization, or society from excellence to eminence is no job for ordinary people; it takes a teacher! To succeed in this noblest of visions, the wise teacher uses a potpourriof skills:
  • 1. The strength of Atlas to move those who choose to live in the mythologies of the past as "the good ole days". " This new idea is an old idea in new pedagogy; it didn't work then and it won't work now." Let the teach models the endless...

In the News: Rupee, the dog climbs to...

In the News:

Rupee, an 11 month old pooch, has done something no dog has done before. He has climbed to the base camp of Mt. Everest with his owner, Joanne Lefson. Called Expedition Mutt Everest 2013, the journey was to create awareness to homeless animals and to promote adoption. Joanne found Rupee abandoned in a city in India.
