A teachers' union-backed organization, Alliance for Quality Education, used a fake parody account to mock former CNN journalist and education activist Campbell Brown's efforts to reform tenure in New York. The Twitter account, @RealCampBrown, poked fun at Brown for refusing to name her funders and for sending her kids to private schools.
According to NY Daily News, many Twitter users "hurled" profane insults at Brown, and the profile sent out tweets mocking her practices.
"It is nonsense for people to say I know nothing about public school," one tweet said. "My nanny's kids attend public school."
Brown, on her actual Twitter account, was not offended.
"All it means is that we have touched a nerve," she tweeted on Friday.
