OK Governor Mary Fallin signed a bill Thursday scrapping the controversial academic standards.
The Governor's decision to throw out Common Core math and English standards drew criticism from educators and business interests, but opponents of the benchmarks applauded the end of what they viewed as harmful federal intrusion, reported The Oklahoman.
The state will return to a pre-2010 set of academic standards while educators create new benchmarks. The state legislature will have final approval on the new standards.
