Google Classroom, a Web tool that integrates Google Drive, Docs and Gmail to help teachers effectively assign and collect work online, is now open to all Google Apps for Education users.
According to Cnet.com, Google School (part of the toolkit) allows teachers to make announcements, create separate Drive folders for each student, and view who has and has not tackled an assignment. A blog post by Google Classroom announced that Classroom is open to all education users, with the goal of "helping teachers spend more time teaching and less time shuffling papers."
In response to feedback from teachers during the preview stage, Classroom has made a number of modifications to the program, such as providing feedback while students are completing an assignment, and including an "About" page where teachers can post information and materials about their classes.
