Coding is a hot activity in classrooms across the nation, but for some schools, the tools necessary for effectively teaching coding can be expensive.
In response, Google has launched "CS First," a very low-cost program designed by educators and computer scientists in hopes of getting students interested in coding.
"We wanted grassroots community support for computer science," CS First Program Manager Kate Berrio told EdSurge. "So we decided to create this program. There are a lot of programs out there; we didn't just want to create the 13th program, but we wanted to look at what's out there and what we could piggyback off of or scaffold around."
