What does Bill Gates have to say about education? Recently, Gates sat down with Katie Brown, who won best teacher of the year in Washington state to talk education and shared some advice.
"From the minute you meet Katie Brown, you get the feeling she's an amazing teacher," wrote Bill Gates in his blog, GatesNotes.
Gates wrote about Brown and her experiences in the classroom dealing with things inclduing Common Core standards. Brown said that no teacher is opposed to higher standards.
The Microsoft founder has his own opinion.
"The problem is that too few teachers get the support they need to implement the standards," he said. "Whether teachers are adopting the Common Core or something else, if they don’t get help implementing the change and the time to do it right, then they’re more likely to turn against it."
