Year-End Toast & Celebration

I have used this idea as a way to celebrate the end of another great school year, but you might like to use the idea at the start of the year. The centerpiece of this idea is a cake. I order a cake with our school-wide theme for the year on it. Then I purchase several bottles of a beverage that looks like champagne (for example, sparkling apple cider). I get plastic champagne glasses too.

Then I buy bottle poppers for each staff member. A bottle popper is a little plastic bottle with a string attached. When you pull the string, streamers shoot out of the bottle. These inexpensive novelty items are sold all year arund, most especially at New Year's and the Fourth of July. Or you can purchase them online. (I found them here and here.)

I give a little talk about the year... we serve the "champagne"... .have a toast... drink the champagne... then pop the streamers. Everyone enjoys the event and it is a nice way to wrap up a great year!
