With the “Just Ask” campaign, schools can raise funds while helping the environment.
The FundingFactory, the nation’s largest fundraising-by-recycling program for schools and nonprofits, is sponsoring a new program to foster business participation in community recycling projects and heighten awareness about electronic waste. The campaign encourages individuals to spur local companies into action by asking them, “What happens to the company’s used printer cartridges and electronics?”
Through the simple step of asking, individuals can help prompt companies to start an electronic waste recycling program and donate items on behalf of an educational or nonprofit organization. Additionally, individuals who pledge support earn a chance to win a trip.
“One of the greatest obstacles to recycling programs is that people don’t know how to recycle,” said Sean Michaels, president of FundingFactory and co-president of its parent company, Environmental Reclamation Services. “FundingFactory makes it easy for schools and nonprofits to start their own recycling program, and for businesses to support them. The ‘Just Ask’ campaign encourages businesses to support noteworthy green organizations within their community.”
To participate in the campaign, anyone can pledge at FundingFactory.com/Disney. Upon pledging, contributors are automatically entered to win a Walt Disney World Resort vacation for four in Orlando, FL, and $500 for the FundingFactory participant of their choice.
Free to participate, Business Supporters serve as a lifeline for FundingFactory participants in raising funds to augment tight budgets. FundingFactory reports that schools and nonprofits with business supporters collect more recyclables, earning them as much as three times more cash and rewards than organizations without the support. The “Just Ask” campaign encourages participants to build environmental awareness within their communities and foster greater local recycling efforts among businesses and individuals.
The FundingFactory program enables schools and nonprofit organizations to exchange electronic waste for cash or points redeemable for new technology and other equipment. Recyclable items eligible for funding include ink and laser cartridges, cell phones, digital cameras, MP3 players and GPS units. FundingFactory is one of the most effective, most favored recycling programs of its kind.
