Spring Into Spring: Five Ways for Teachers to Introduce Spring in the Classrooms

 

Research has shown that students have increased energy and mood throughout the spring season. Here are several ways for teachers to take advantage of his or her class' increased productivity with some useful ideas, activities and lesson plans.

1. Spring Poetry Unit: This activity doubles as a great resource for teachers to welcome spring and introduce National Poetry Month into his or her classroom. Students will learn about three different styles of poems with this lesson. Each poem style is supplemented with a corresponding activity to have fun with the poems.

2. Festive Spring-Themed Bulletin Board: This activity lets students get into the spirit of the season by helping turn the classroom into a colorful display of eggshell flowers. This lesson plan provides teachers with samples of flower templates that students can decorate with broken-up, colored eggshells to make a beautiful and creative display.

3. Classroom Garden: This resource includes ideas for teachers on how to incorporate different areas of curriculum into a student-made garden, indoors or out. After all, nothing indicates the mark of spring quite like growing plants.
