Out of the Box Resolutions

Greetings~

With the New Year in mind~ I wanted to get you thinking about some resolutions for the remainder of the school year--but with a twist. I want to suggest some "out of the box" resolutions that you may not normally consider but that could havea positive impacton those around you. Enjoy and feel free to list your own resolutions by visiting http://community.educationworld.comcontent/new-year-resolutions?gid=NTEyMQ==

1. I will find that child in the classroom that doesn't require much of my attention (maybe they always behave~ are quiet~and get straight As~ etc.)and give them some attention.

2. I will bring donuts or another treat to my co-workers just because.

3. I will find a way during the school day toteach my students something that I love~ perhaps a hobby or passion such as gardening or cooking.

4. I will leave work at a reasonable hour and go do something totally unrelated to work.

5. I will bring my child to work and show them that teaching is a noble profession.

6. I will not stress about standardized testing but rather focus on my students' learning and accomplishing as much as possible during class.

7. I will dress differently one day for fun. Maybe wear a costume related to reading or dye my hair~ just to change things up with the students.

8. I will write a positive letter to the editor of my local newspaper commending my school or someone at the school.

9. I will not complain about the education system but rather be appreciative that I even have a job.

10. I will contact someone I truly in admire in the education profession (maybe someone famous or considered the best of the best) and ask them for advice.

Happy New Year!

Steve
