Microbe World
https://www.asm.org/index.php/podcasts
GRADE LEVEL: K-12

CONTENT:
Microbe World is full of great learning activities and teaching resources. This excellent site is divided into two areas: Stalking the Mysterious Microbe for elementary students and The Microbial Literacy Collaborative (MLC) for older students and science teachers.

AESTHETICS:
Stalking the Mysterious Microbe is full of great graphics, bright colors and an engaging layout. MLC has a more serious layout and color scheme.

ORGANIZATION:
Stalking the Mysterious Microbe features a handy menu bar at the top of the pages and helpful section guides at the left. MLC requires frames and offers a downloadable version of its activities section in Adobe Acrobat format.

REVIEW:
Microbe World is an outstanding place for teachers to get involved with the art of teaching microbiology. Sam Sleuth, Microbiologist, hosts the elementary grade's are, Stalking the Mysterious Microbe. Mr. Sleuth is hot on the trail to solve the microbe mysteries. By accompanying Mr. Sleuth, your students can learn about the evolution of microbes, where they live, and how they can help and sometimes harm us. Don't miss the fun (and sometimes yucky) Experiments section. That's only the start! The Microbial Literacy Collaborative (MLC) is the heart of the site and includes three main sections. The first section, Gateways to the Microbe World, is an educational activities and multimedia resources section. Wonders of Microbes, the second section, is a learning module area with lots of images, information, and stories to explore. The last section, Education & Exploration, is a teacher resource and discussion area. The site also offers support materials for the upcoming PBS series Intimate Strangers: Unseen Life on Earth.
