REVIEW:
MathMagic was developed in El Paso, Texas, by high school math teacher Alan A. Hodson. The project posts a math challenge for each of the grade level groups. Students are then encouraged to pair up with groups of students in other locations to solve the challenge. The site provides newsgroups for the different categories to help facilitate communication. Students are also encouraged to discuss their work with partner teams via email. The math problems are challenging and stimulate meta-cognition and other higher level creative thinking skills. The project has attracted a wide selection of participants from all over the world and offers an exceptional opportunity for classes to create working relationships with other groups in far away places!
