REVIEW:
The Crossroads American History curriculum is composed of 3 sets of units for the elementary, middle, and high school grade levels that are divided into 12 time periods. Also included are course syllabi for 2 post secondary courses designed for pre-service history teachers. Each time period has its own set of lessons, objectives, and resources. The curriculum is a framework and expects the teacher to provide the texts and other suggested resources. A series of well-written historical background essays are provided to give teachers an understanding of the time periods and themes around which Crossroads builds its teaching units. The curriculum strives to give an accurate and culturally sensitive portrayal of American history. The writers constantly repeat the importance of looking at events from the perspectives of all participants.
