REVIEW:
The idea behind the page is to have a "sort of virtual museum" depicting the story and exhibit of whale bones that were discovered
near Burlington, Vermont, when workers on the railroad "unearthed the bones of a mysterious animal near the town of Charlotte."
Experts concluded that the bones were that of a "beluga" or "white" whale which inhabits arctic and subarctic marine waters in the
northern hemisphere. The city of Charlotte, however, is not arctic nor oceanside (over 150 miles away), a mystery developed surrounding
the bones.
This site tries to explain the mystery of the whale in Vermont plus give information on glaciers and the Ice Age, the Champlain Sea
area and Beluga whales in general. Each page leads to more information via additional links, a sort of layered effect. The site is very
educational and informative for students and others as well, interested in whales, fossilization and the history of the earth.
