https://www.dia.org/education/egypt-teachers/index.html
GRADE LEVEL: 3-8, Professional

CONTENT:
The Detroit Institute of Art offers cross-curricular lesson plans for teaching about ancient Egypt.

AESTHETICS:
The consistent layout and color scheme of all the pages make the site user friendly and attractive.

ORGANIZATION:
The lesson plans are organized according to these subjects: Art, Language Arts, Math & Science, Mummies, and Social Studies. Each page has a tabbed menu at the top for navigating between the sections, but there is no link back to the main page.

REVIEW:
If you are looking for a handful of creative activities to add a little spice to your unit on ancient Egypt, this site should be your first stop. Lesson plans for all the major subject areas will have students learning all about writing their names using hieroglyphs, constructing a canopic jar, creating an equation quilt, participating in an Egyptian market day, and transforming a cardboard box into a mummy case. Each plan is complete with activities, assessments, goals and objectives, and a description of preparations and a list of resources. Included are comments from teachers who have used the activities in their classrooms.
