CONTENT:
This online collaborative project was developed by educator, author and consultant Walter McKenzie. It offers classrooms around the world a chance to come together and follow what has been termed the “Last Great Race” -- the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
SITE DESIGN:
The site is well-designed and easy to navigate. Links are clearly marked on the main page and internal pages have a bottom navigation bar for movement between the sections.

REVIEW:
This project allows students to collaborate with others around the world as they follow the Iditarod Race in real time right online. Classes create wall maps, study the mushers, dogs, history, geography and climate, select a team to follow, and e-mail each project checkpoint as their team progresses in the race. At the site visitors can view the archives of past projects and peruse teacher testimonials and musher endorsements. All of the materials and information are there for you to use as you follow the race in your classroom. The project relies heavily on the Official Iditarod Site for the real time updates and background information. Included at the site is a chart that illustrates how the project relates to multiple intelligences.
