Overview:
Students work in teams of 2-4 to investigate the lives and experiences of astronauts. In the course of their research, students investigate links to information about eight space-related topics -- space food, astronaut menus, space suits, life in space, microgravity, Space Shuttle research, Space Shuttle construction, and slideshows -- and complete a variety of activities related to each of those topics. Teams then use what they have learned to create Power Point presentations for primary students.
The WebQuest includes a Teacher Plans section, which provides a lesson for each study topic, containing a number of additional activities.
Notes:
The Teacher Plans section of this WebQuest indicate that the project was developed for fourth graders. This WebQuest can, however, be adapted for students in most upper elementary and middle grades.
If you do not have access to PowerPoint, encourage students to create other types of presentations, such as reports, dioramas or booklets.
All links in this WebQuest are active at the time of review.
