URL: http://www.plainfield.k12.in.us/hschool/webq/webq90/

Overview: Assuming the roles of investigators, students work in teams to explore information about African Americans who have made important contributions to the United States. Each team then evaluates its combined research and chooses one African American to be honored in a new African-American "museum" Teams present their information and recommendations in the form of PowerPoint presentations. Finally, each team proposes a name for the museum and the class votes on the winning name.

Notes: A WebQuest list from the school district where this quest was created indicates that this project was developed for fourth through sixth graders. This WebQuest also can be adapted for elementary and secondary students, however.

If you do not have access to PowerPoint, encourage students to create other types of presentations, such as reports, dioramas or booklets.
