In education, minutes matter. So whatever a teacher can do to maximize technology instructional time can make a big difference. Even a task as seemingly simple as deciding who's next on the computer can be either a time killer or a non-issue. To ensure that the latter is the case, check out the following tips.

Sign 'Em Up
Sign-up sheets expedite computer use.
Provide a sign-up sheet for classroom computers. The sheet will ensure that each student gets a turn working at the classroom computer, and help you keep track of who did what when in case a problem arises.
Line 'Em Up
How students line up can make a difference.
When regularly working in a computer lab, assign a specific computer to each student. Students can line up in "computer lab order" before they leave their classroom, which will save time when they get to the lab.
Stick 'Em Up?
Use stickers to organize students' computer use.
Place differently colored stickers on the bottom left and the right corners of each monitor. Use the stickers to determine whose turn it is when students share a computer, and to indicate which side of the screen you are talking about when using such programs as the new Kid Pix.
