What is it? Prezi is a cloud-based tool educators can use to present projects, lectures and more from their browser, email, desktop, iPad or iPhone. Users can navigate and zoom in and out of their pieces to communicate ideas on this virtual canvas.
How does it work? The site offers many templates, or users can choose a blank canvas. The zoom buttons are located right on the screen, and the canvas moves with a click of the mouse. Click anywhere to add photos, videos, data, pdfs and text. The top will have the option to insert those types of resources. Access the transformation tool--which helps move, size and rotate content--by clicking on to the content itself.
How hard is it to use? The site offers a number of tutorials, but the process is very simple. Navigating the site is easy, and it does not take a lot of computer experience or skill to create a Prezi presentation. There are no complicated buttons, keys or hidden features; everything the user will need is front and center.
How well does it work? Prezi presentations work exceptionally well, and the finished project is very professional. The templates are organized, visually appealing and effective for getting one's point across. The opportunity for creativity is tremendous and can wow the user's audience.
How do I use it in the classroom? Teachers can use (or have students use) Prezi for presentations or projects on specific subjects. Also try the tool for explaining classroom goals, activities and achievements at parent/teacher conferences or open-house events.
