What is it? This is a new, ultra-thin portable hard drive for both Mac and PC computers.
How does it work? The Edge is compatible with both Macs and PCs right out of the box and contains software that will automatically back up all of your files. It supports USB 3.0, so all you need to connect is a simple USB cable, which is included.
Measuring a paltry 9.5 millimeters thick, the device is slim, even by mobile standards. This makes for easy portability.
How hard is it to use? It isn’t hard at all. Users simply plug the Edge into their computer’s USB port and the device does the rest, automatically configuring files for backup.
How well does it work? Extremely well. In an age of cloud-based storage that often comes with a monthly fee, automated, local backup is very useful. The 500 GB version retails for about $100, which costs less than a typical annual cloud-storage subscription.
How do I use it in the classroom? This is less a classroom tool and more of a teacher tool. New lesson plans, progress reports or educational videos—literally any new files you’re working on or add to your computer—get an automatic backup by My Passport Edge.
