Content: : TeensHealth is part of the KidsHealth family of Web sites. These sites, run by the nonprofit Nemours Center for Children's Health Media, provide accurate, up-to-date health information that's free of technical jargon.
Design: This is the one area in which the site could improve. While its stated mission is to be appealing to teens, the site’s design appears to aiming at a younger demographic. Despite the thematic shortcomings, the design does function well, with all the navigation and links working properly.
Review: First and foremost, the site offers a wealth of health-related content. Everything from food and fitness to disease and drugs is covered here. Everything is presented in a manner that makes it easy for younger minds to absorb.
The articles and features on this site undergo a rigorous editorial process including extensive review by medical professionals. The most recent review date and the name(s) of the expert reviewer(s) appear at the end of each article.
While TeensHealth is careful to state that all information is for educational—not diagnostic—purposes, the site’s attention to detail makes its content both practical and acceptable academically.
Bottom Line: Whether educators are covering a science topic in class, or just want to be informed because students often have questions, TeensHealth is a good resource.
