Content: The Kennedy Center, located on 17 acres overlooking the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., is the nation’s busiest arts facility as well as a living memorial to President Kennedy. The organization’s Web site houses professional development materials and resources for teaching the arts.
Design: A bold yet professional design, which incorporates warm hues and inviting images, reflects the site’s artistic focus. Navigation is easy, with the Education area appearing in the main navigation bar across the top of every page.
Review: The Arts Edge area of the site contains lessons, how-tos and other tremendous resources for teachers. Visitors can delve into just about everything under the arts banner—from writing haiku to setting poems to music.
Additionally, all classroom materials are aligned to national standards, which are explained on the site.
Bottom Line: The Kennedy Center site will interest everyone, but teachers who specialize in the arts will find it especially useful.
