Site Review: Google Play

history educationSite URL: GooglePlay.com

Content: This is the place to purchase apps and other media for Android-based devices.

Design: The site is certainly modern and looks pretty at first glance, but it suffers from a bit of design clutter. Descriptive text appears crammed together, and screenshots of the apps are often too small.

google playReview: All site functions work well, as one would expect from a tech behemoth like Google. All of the controls, tools and other in-browser elements work seamlessly. The site does have a few drawbacks, however. The most prevalent is the level of breadth used to define app categories. Searching under the heading “Education,” a user can expect to find many early elementary titles and just as many apps designed to help people attain their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). While the info for truckers is technically educational, it is probably not what’s needed by people looking for K-12 educational apps.

Bottom Line: If you’re working with an Android device, this is definitely the place to get apps. Just be prepared to spend a little time finding what you actually want.
