'iPad Mini' Specs, Pricing Revealed...Maybe

AppleWhile Apple has been silent on the topic, rumors about a smaller iPad are picking up, and a German Web site claims to have the goods on the device’s specs and pricing.

MobileGeeks has posted what is reported to be a screenshot from a European electronics retailer’s inventory system; the screenshot shows “iPad Mini” versions and prices. Using the Google Translate feature, one can see that, if true, Apple will release 8, 16, 32 and 64-GB versions of the device. Each will come in both WiFi-only and Wi-Fi + cellular (presumably 4G LTE) configurations.

The biggest news from this post is the purported pricing. According to the cited spreadsheet, the smallest, WiFi-only device will retail at $322. That figure is a best guess, given the Euro-to-dollar exchange rate. In addition, it is unclear whether that price reflects the 19 percent value-added-tax which European markets often include in advertised prices.

Apple watchers have been pointing to late October as the probable timeframe for an official announcement to come out of Cupertino, meaning we may only be a few weeks away from actually seeing this new device in action.

How Much of “You” Are You Bringing into...

One of the best strategies I have learned came from my first mentor, famed teacher Rafe Esquith. He said to find ways to bring your own interests and passions into the classroom and somehow connect them to the curriculum. For example, if you love cooking, find a way to cook with your students.

This simple approach has several benefits: first, you enjoy teaching more, as you are teaching topics you love and find fascinating, not just what you are mandated to teach. Second, your...

Teachers: Be Choiceless

Beginning in their college preparation years, teachers begin to learn all sorts of strategies for the classroom. They are asked to consider their beliefs and philosophy of classroom management, instruction, assessment, community building, and parental involvement. As this occurs, teachers naturally begin to select methods of teaching, ones that resonate with them, ones that are pushed by the school district and schools, ones they read about, or ones used by teachers in neighboring classrooms...

Teachers are well-known for giving so much of themselves to students and others—perhaps too much at times. Burnout rates are high within the teaching profession, and it’s no wonder given the nature of the job. Educators teach and give...
